Modern Mediterranean aesthetic

We've talked quite a bit about the modern Mediterranean style in the article What is Scandinavian Mediterranean Style?. This style will be one of the largest sources of inspiration for outdoor design. It is characterized by a particular, rustic, seaside, nostalgic charm that meets the simple, minimal, sophisticated Scandinavian style.

By its nature alone, Mediterranean aesthetics inspires the vibe of summer holidays. Ceramics, terracotta, bamboo, ratan, wood, but also Mediterranean patterns, neutral colors, simple lines, umbrellas and comfortable pillows or sun beds will turn your outdoor space into a holiday corner.

Sculptural Furniture

This trend is not only for the summer, but it works all year long. We see outdoor furniture reminiscent of sculptures or permanent elements of the house's construction, in materials that are durable and often create an industrial aesthetic.

The shapes on sofas, chairs and outdoor tables are original and interesting. This sculptural element can of course be also translated into decor items. Indeed, the combination of furniture and decor that share this feature can "bind" your outdoor style and create a very detailed result.

Multifunctional furniture

We see again and again the trend of multifunctional or polymorphic furniture, for all areas of the house. This also translates into outdoors. By saying multifunctional, we mean the use of an object in many different ways. We come across outdoor furniture, which can be assembled in different ways in different angles and positions and others that also operate as storage spaces.

Outdoor lighting

This trend is one of Dane's favorites, so we see it come back again and again. One of the most characteristic decorations of the Danish balconies are the small lights that adorn the railings all year round and the lit floor outdoor lanterns.

I think we can also adopt this trend to give warmth and a Scandinavian style to the outdoor decoration. But we do not have to confine ourselves to one kind of lighting, as to the little lights I mentioned. There are too many options to give our balcony or garden, this fairytale style.
