It's time to study the trends that will affect and direct interior design of 2024-2025.
We get inspiration and information from the latest major Maison et Objet exhibitions in Paris, Salone del Mobile in Milan and Domotex Fair in Hannover and analyze some of the trends that stood out for the coming years. Knowing the trends will help you create fresh looking spaces, according to the trends to come.
Statement chairs
One of the clearest trends that emerge from the exhibition is statement furniture.
Specifically we see mainly special and original chairs. Also known as Accent Chairs, they can be a very easy and effective solution to quickly refresh the decoration of your home.
We see functional, elegant and mainly comfortable chairs, which are often round. After all, the curve continues to have a dynamic presence.
For example, Raphael Navot's area at the Maison et Objet exhibition was fully furnished with round chairs and soft stools designed for the French brand Roche Bobois.
Of course we saw other statement furniture and objects, such as spiral tables, lamps, tables and more.

Japanese design
Japandi has returned! Scandinavian design and Japanese culture have always had many common features, so it's a match that comes completely naturally. If you want to know more about Japandi, you can read the article You know the Japandi decoration style;
We see this trend especially in lighting, with natural materials such as wood, bamboo, glass, ratan and paper.

Bold patterns
The bold and colorful decor stood out in the exhibition. We clearly see the move to more maximal and colorful choices. Perhaps this tendency comes as a reaction to the minimal trends of recent years.
We will see more and more playful, particularly creative elements in homes, but without leaving traditional design out. Instead, we're seeing the older trends in new, innovative and original ways.
An ideal example for this trend is the Supernova sofa by Bethan Laura Wood at the Maison et Objet. It is a 70s iconic sofa that was re -invented with a new pattern in psychedelic colors.

Tubular construction
Tubular design and constructions now have a role in decoration and designers have used their shape in many creative ways.
We saw them in lamps, in sofas, wallpapers and armchairs.

Circular design became easier
Circular design is of course not a new topic. We can all have access or even think of solutions that may be circular. Leaving the obvious, this does not only mean reuse objects, recycling or reducing our consumption, but also, for example, selecting long -term and durable products, made with local resources and sustainable ways.
Circularity in Action was Denmark's exhibition at Maison et Objet, presenting many design Danish brands that have already adopted real circular and sustainable solutions.

Metal as a material
Metal is a material will be seen a lot in the coming years. We can detect many metal decorations that are of particular interest, but also the use of metal in furniture details.
Aluminum can be seen a lot as it is the most viable building material, it can be recycled without losing any of its properties, so it also fits the trend mentioned above.
We also see many interesting colorful metallic elements but also in particular, new metal finishes. For example, British designer Tom Hancock works by turning a wooden wheel by hand and then together with a specialized metal company, they create beautiful aluminum jars, reminiscent of the texture of the wood grains, that are extremely lightweight.

Lacquer finishes
In Salone del Mobile, glossy and matte lacquer finishes were almost everywhere. The two new shades that stood out were the color of the powder and the cream.

Brick
The brick is a material that has been in decoration for years, so it's not just a trend. However, we saw this material in new exciting shapes. The brick is a humble sustainable material that withstands time.

New trends on carpets and floors
We have a lot of useful information on carpet trends and floors, we saw in the recent Domotex Fair.
Initially we see as in other new trends, viability dominating.
Specifically, we see the very interesting Green Collection exhibition, featuring a variety of experimental carpets and floors. For example, one of the floor materials presented by the exhibition was made of unnecessary shoe pieces by Nike, also of cork pieces reminiscent of the final result of the wooden floor. We also saw several carpets made of plastic bottles, nets and many other materials.
Specifically on the carpets, the trend is the higher the better, with the carpets covering as much of the room as possible. We also see much more woven carpets with low pile instead of fluffy carpets. Perhaps the reason for this is because it is given greater value to the carpet pattern, which we want to look and stand out.
We see some vibrant colors: purple, red, blue and yellow, but mostly we see many options in natural tones: brown, gray and beige, with special patterns reminiscent of large shapes of stones or traditional, folk elements. In addition we observe carpets that have vintage or antique style strong. Black line rugs with black lines, which we were used to in recent years tend to disappear.
Finally, we also noticed some more modern and contemporary patterns, such as entire image printings, weird and experimental patterns and interesting use of the thread. It is certain that special emphasis is placed on technique and style.

On floors, the trend that stands out is the natural tendencies in the wood. The wooden floors become warmer and darkening. We leave completely from white or beige wood and go to hot coffee or even dark brown. We also notice some special patterns, such as color splashes and three -dimensional stone effects, but the main trend wants the floors simple, without much complex elements.

The new trends in colors
In the colors we see two different sides. We see our classic neutral: beige, brown, champagne, terracotta and on the other side the bright colors: red, blue, fuchsia, yellow. These two trends coexist and allow you to choose which side you prefer, depending on your personal taste.
In neutrals we see interiors, sophisticated, luxurious, with Mediterranean inspiration, natural materials, antiques and vintage objects.

In vibrant colors we see bright shades of red and orange referring to the sunset, on fabric chairs and sofas. We also find print, as well as blue, yellow and green shades in decor and furniture.
But let's look at the five colors that stand out:
Acid green
As we have mentioned again, green is at the top of home colors in recent years, due to their obvious relationship with nature. While the softest green, such as emerald or olive, are still on trends, we see new brighter green. Acid Green, which also contains a little yellow inside, is perfectly combined with magenta, this year's color according to Pantone.

Viva magenta
A combination between Fuchsia and Chinese Red, the Magenta will surely have its moment, as the Pantone color of the year is Viva Magenta. This crimson red was chosen as a Pantone 2023 color because of its exuberance.

Cobalt Blue
This blue shade is lighter than Navy Blue, but much darker than the blue of the sky. Similar to International Klein Blue is the perfect color for those who want to try some more bolder shades but at the same time want a more traditional color.
This blue fits perfectly with warm neutral colors, for example with terracotta and orange ocher, because of the contrast it creates with them.

Apricot
Like orange, Apricot is also associated with vitamin C and health, but is more pale and lighter. It also causes soothing and freshest emotions. Like terracotta, it can also act as a neutral color while adding a brighter and warmer touch.
This color works in many different pallets. It is wonderful with neutral, hot brown and organic textures, for a relaxing and soft decoration. It can also be selected as a confrontation with bright colors and neon for a more modern palette.

Electric Violet
We see Purple returning, especially the brightest and bold violet. Purple is a special color as it combines dynamism, stability and a play.
It combines perfectly with yellow, blue and even red.
