Givenchy Catwalk Art Book Black 19.5×5×28.5 cm Hintsdeco
The first and only comprehensive overview of Givenchy's collections, presented through catwalk photos and published in collaboration with the famous fashion house.
The house was founded by the bold Hubert de Givenchy in 1952 and symbolized the pinnacle of effortless elegance, as embodied by Givenchy's muse (and close friend) Audrey Hepburn. After its founder's retirement in 1995, John Galliano initially took over the reins of the house, before being succeeded by the young Alexander McQueen, who created the first (and only) haute couture collections for Givenchy. More recently, Italian designer Riccardo Tisci led the brand in a decidedly modern direction after his appointment in 2005 (dressing idols like Beyoncé), followed by Clare Waight Keller and American designer Matthew M. Williams.
This definitive edition – the only monograph circulating in print for Givenchy – begins with a brief history of the fashion house before exploring the collections themselves, which are organized chronologically. Each new era in Givenchy's history opens with a brief overview and biography of the young designer, while the individual collections are presented with a short text revealing their influences and highlights, illustrated with carefully curated runway images. The book concludes with a rich reference section, which includes extensive index.
