Modular residence: A compromise or a choice?

Once, the term modular houses used to be closely associated with constructions of low quality, poor aesthetics and limited durability.

However, the emergence of new materials and the development of technology in recent years offer us the opportunity to discover new construction methods, which, oftentimes, turn out to be better than the traditional building methods.

The main difference between modular and conventional houses is that the individual structural elements and the walls are not manufactured on the construction site; instead, they are received already completed from the manufacturing plant and are assembled on site.

If the construction company you have chosen is experienced in the field, then the benefits are many, making your choice an informed one.

Today, I’m presenting you a modern Country House in the Peloponnese, Greece, constructed as a modular residence by choice.

The construction was commissioned to Kofinas Company, while the interior layout, decoration and supervision were assigned to hintsdeco.

It was delivered within 6 months and our visits to the construction company in order to choose the materials as well as the construction site for supervision were only 4 in total!!

Can a contemporary country house become as cosy and hospitable as a traditional farmhouse?

The residence was constructed at a small village in Messinia, Greece, and is located 5 kilometres away from the sea, opposite a small olive grove surrounded with the fragrant herbs and flowers of the Messinian lands.

In both construction and decoration, natural materials and warm countryside colours were chosen.

The contemporary materials and the sleek surfaces fully integrate into the surroundings, creating a sophisticated atmosphere.

The warm corners and the hanging shelves, decorated with plants, are inspired from the latest interior design trends.

In the interior, the height of walls and roof -reaching 5 metres- was retained.

The big balcony doors and the numerous windows allow for abundant sunlight and ventilation during most of the day.

The fragrances of the olive and other fruit bearing trees permeate the atmosphere.

The house has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and can readily accommodate 2 four-member families.

The Country House is available for rent throughout the year, offering the visitors unique relaxation moments spent cycling to the sea, baking bread in the traditional wood-fired oven, planting vegetables in the organic garden and watching summer films under the stars.
